Our story

It all started with an idea for a clothing brand based on outdoor fun.

Raising our 3 boisterous and energetic children here in North Devon and captivated by the wild rugged beauty of the Atlantic coast, we wanted to create a brand that encapsulated that sense of outdoor living.

It wasn’t until they were all grown up that we finally took the plunge. After starting with a unisex range called Stonewashed Clothing, our focus changed and became about women. Women who enjoy an outdoor lifestyle, regardless of age and size, because we discovered that our fabulous women customers often don’t feel catered for in the shapes and sizing of outdoor clothing. You told us you need a good fit because the sizes you buy don’t always reflect the shapes that you are. You are not stopped by the weather whatever the season.

We wanted to address the fit issue and develop something for our women to feel great in, whilst enjoying outdoor adventures.

To wear when out walking the coast path or strolling through the woods. For paddling in the shallows, or for popping on a layer after a glorious morning dip. For tinkering in the boatyard or sailing on the water. Think barbecues and picnic rugs, or cafes and bars in the evening sun. For putting the world to rights and blowing away the cobwebs, on windswept walks by the ever-changing sea. We wanted to create a brand that would reflect all this and where we are headed, and it was our son Dylan who came up with the name Windswept.
