It is imperative to us to use organic cotton because conventionally grown cotton is harmful to the environment. It involves the use of chemicals and pesticides which are damaging to the soil, can pollute drinking water and release greenhouse gases. Some of these chemicals can stay in the soil and water for years. The toxins can be dangerous to humans too, from the farmers to the pickers, long term exposure can cause health problems. Organic cotton, however, increases soil health, reduces water consumption, promotes biodiversity and encourages sustainable farming practices. It is more expensive but we believe uncompromisingly that it is a price we must pay.
